Well, My name is Vanessa "JapJap" Taylor. I'm 19 years old from Little Old Connecticut!
What do you do?
I'm currently a student at Tunxis Community College finishing my general/liberal arts education courses! I previously attended UNC Charlotte for a year as well (Shoutout to The Niner Nation Fam). As of today, Lol, I'd like to pursue a degree in criminal justice after I transfer but everyone that knows me, knows that I want and WILL become a grammy-award winning songwriter and singer. That's my call. That's my life. That's my passion!
What/Who is your style inspiration?
Ahh.. you know as an artist you pick up inspiration from all things, all people, all places. I guess the inspiration for my style is drawn from a big mix and match of different sub-cultures in the American lifestyle. I love the snap backs and the skinnies with the vans - you know the skater look, but then I can be online looking at H&M's fall catalog drooling at their latest collection of Blazers and cardigans. I'm pretty versatile, but my main thing is to be comfortable and confident! I've got to feel good in what I'm wearing, regarldess of what it is.
What are some of your favorite brands or stores?
Well, I mentioned H&M earlier, but I don't think I have a favorite brand. It used to be Hollister but I'm growing out of that phase. Right now I'm trying to re-invent my "swag." I visit a lot of fashion blogs and dig through articles to find online shops, especially in Atlanta. 80spurple.com Is an online store I f*cking adore!
What would you like to see more of in regards to style for "The Androgynous Woman"?
Why, I think it's pretty damn awesome right now! Perhaps connecting Androgynous style with women in the music industry? What are their stories and how did they find themselves "fitting in" with such a unique and controversial style (and sexuality)? I'm headed down that road right now, seems like a pretty interesting topic!
